Snacks

Indoor Only

Snacks is an indoor only cat and cannot be let outside. When entering the house if he is near the door, place your foot in the crack of the door and say “back back” until he backs off. Exterior doors must not be left open or loose so he can push them open.

Photos

While we’re away, we love receiving “proof of life” photos as we call it.

Medicine

Snacks receives medicine (Predlisone) once every morning which is delivered through his treat stick. We have left out his favorite plate, the medicine bottle and his treat sticks. Take 1 pill that is already pre cut in half from the bottle and smash it into a powder with the spoon or a blunt object. Mix in the pill powder with 1 full treat stick on his plate and place on the steps to the laundry room. He will be pesky in the morning until he receives his treat.

Food

Snacks is on a strict diet from the vet that keeps him happy and healthy. He has a special food for his digestive needs and must drink distilled water for his urinary tract health. Due to his compressed mouth and nasal passages he likes his food “tented” like a pyramid every morning to make snagging kitty kibble easier for him.

His food is located in the pantry in the kitchen on the floor in an appropriately labelled white plastic container with scoop.

Water

Snacks likes fresh distilled water every morning. He likes his water bowl to be dumped out into the sink and rinsed then the water replaced with fresh distilled water. He cannot drink tap water its calcium content is dangerous for him. Distilled water for Snack can be located in the kitchen pantry on the floor in a 5 gallon water jug. Press the power button once on the dispenser to fill his bowl, then press it once again to stop filling.

Catbox

Snacks likes his catbox scooped once a day, there is a Diaper Genie right next to his box and material can be deposited there. His catbox is located down the east wing (nearest to Jefferson street) of the house in the closet of the north office with all of the legos.

REMINDER: There is a camera focused on his catbox, while this allows us to monitor his health, you will be visible to the camera when approaching the closet and attending to his catbox.

Social

Snacks is a “bush” cat, he typically is found on the ground or slightly elevated.

His favorite spots:

  • Blue ottoman under the living room piano
  • On top of the bedroom bed
  • Under the large dining room table
  • The orange chair in the living room
    • Under the orange chair in the living room (he blends in)
  • Under the breakfast table near the bar on the black and white carpet
  • When he is scared he might hide under the bedroom bed (not common)
  • Lounging in front of the corner picture window or the large picture window carpets

He is happiest when ignored or left alone. He is curious about strangers and may sniff but most likely will not invite being touched (he will back away). Attempting to touch him if he backs away and doesn’t rub his chops on your hand will invite a swat. He is usually pretty gentle but his claws are effective and could be unpleasant on contact. Make good choices.

Emergencies

While we don’t expect an emergency, in the case of one, Snacks’ carrier is located down the east wing hall in the closet of the north office (the lego room) above his catbox. Recommend attempting to corner him and drape him with a large towel or blanket to attempt to capture him.

The emergency vet is located on the corner of Jefferson and Hwy 111:
